El Masnou Meteorologic Station at the Port

So this marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. And none to soon for me. This past July was hotter than usual. The average daily high temperature was 1,6o C (3o F) higher than last year. The average daily high in July this year was 82.6o F. OK, so I am a weather wimp.

Last year I didn’t think it was that hot to warrant air conditioning. After this year, I am not so sure. Of course I can blame the hot weather on global climate change.

It has also been drier here this year as compared to last year. Right now we’re waiting for the remnants of Gordon to drop some rain here. This is the second year of drought in Spain and we need the rain (which does not fall mainly on the plain, but rather on the northern Atlantic coast.)

September seems normal so far, temperature-wise, but still a on the dry side. This month and October are the rainiest months of the year here in Barcelona. As you can guess, July is the driest month of the year.
