After I got back from mailing my general election ballot yesterday, I found this in my inbox:

Dear Charles,

The address that you will write is the Alameda County address.  The vote by mail ballot that you have is for Nov. 4, 2008 election not June 3 election? If it for June election is too late.

Subject: Voting question

I have received my ballot material for voting in the upcoming June 3, 2008 Statewide Direct Primary Election. I am a U.S. citizen residing outside the United States. When I sign the "Residence Address" on the mailing envelope, do I use the address that I was registered to vote at in Alameda County or my current address here in Spain?

Thank you,

So it’s not just with Spanish bureaucrats that I seem to have problems.
