But no snow in El Masnou

We had unseasonably cold weather yesterday. There was snow all over Catalunya, even on some beaches in Barcelona. Ruben said that it was snowing strongly in Sabadell during the evening. Although the temperature got down to 2℃ (36℉), I didn’t see any flurries at my home. This is the first time that I have seen snow on the hills in the four years that I have been here. It reminds me of the Bay Area in winter.

Coast and Snow
The hills in the background separate Badalona from Montgat. They are about 500 m (1500 ft) high.

Port and Snow
Snowy hills from the sports marina. My home is visible behind the first palm on the right.

Snow and río de Alella
Looking at the hills with snow from the playa del Masnou. The río de Alella is on the right.
The beach has been heavily eroded from recent storms.

I think we discussed once that we usually get snow once every 6-8 years. Last time was in 2002, but seeing how warm was last year's winter, nobody could predict this cold now

Wow - I can not imagine seeing Barcelona with snow like that. When I was there in March of 2002 the only snow I saw was at a distance on the Pyrenees Mountains.

Well at least you don't have to shovel it

We are not forecast to get snow next week but after the high 70's of last week in Florida it is cold here and going to drop down lower next week.

That SOOO reminds me of the snow that used to dust the hills / ranges behind me, when I lived in Paraparaumu as a child... And it sometimes would be on Kapiti Island too, about 3 kms out to sea! :-)
