|A new "look" for my LJ

When I started my LJ nearly five years ago there weren’t too many choices for the journal “style”. I wanted something simple and straightforward so I chose “Generator” with the “Nautical” color scheme. If you browse the various color schemes for “Generator”, you probably agree with me that some are really atrocious in terms of legibility like “Sunset” or have over-the-top colors like “Deep MeloDrama”.
Fast forward five years. I was getting tired of my LJ style. I perused the current styles available—there must be several hundred now. I still liked my current style, but I needed to add some individuality. I found that I could place an image at the top of my journal. So I decided to take a picture of the Barcelona skyline as seen from my terraza.
Photographer’s note: Resized to 800 x 600 pixels. Auto WB. EXIF data intact.
Next I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to crop and clean up the image, i.e. remove those pesky boat masts and TV antennas. The result isn’t “perfect”, it but doesn't need to be. Here it is:
Cropped and cleaned up
Finally I used an Olympus Master “art filter” called “cartoon art” to give the impression of a sketch. I was fortunate that the Sea turned out to be a “web-safe” color that I could use that as the background for my journal.
After “art filter”, ready to use
I hope that you like the new “look”.
