Tits, mushrooms and roses
Last month when Ruben and I went to La Boqueria market to buy a fresh turkey to roast, we walked around and decided that we had to return and take pictures like the hoards of tourists that are ever present there. La Boqueria is a large public market in the Ciutat Vella (“old city”) district of Barcelona and one of the city's foremost tourist attractions. With an entrance from La Rambla, only steps from the Metro Liceu station on the L3 line makes La Boqueria very transit accessible. We took the
FGC Renfe Rodalies commuter train from El Masnou to Plaça Catalunya where we switched to the Metro. Total travel time about half an hour.
The first mention of the Boqueria market in Barcelona dates from 1217 CE. The market is noted for its very diverse selection of goods. If you can’t find some item in la Boqueria, chances are you won’t find it elsewhere in Barcelona.
One of those goods is chocolate and there are a number of shops that offer various types and forms of chocolate. I was intrigued by the various shapes that some shops displayed. And I just had to share a few photos that I took of some of them.
Tetas de chocolate / Chocolate tits
I haven't sampled these yet, but presume they are "white" chocolate inside
Seta de chocolate / Chocolate mushroom
These look "cute as a button"
Rosas de chocolate / Chocolate rosas
I tried a red one and wasn't impressed with the flavor
I assume the chocolate one tastes like it looks
