[My Mood |chipperchipper]

(English translation follows)

Barcelona is the 35th most expensive in the world
Barcelona shares with Madrid the 35th position in the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world, according to the biannual survey of the Economic Intelligence Unit. Tokyo has left being the city most expensive and now this position is occupied by the Oslo. After these two, follows Reykjavik, Osaka-Kobe, Paris, Copenhagen, London, Zürich, Geneva and Helsinki. Teheran is the cheapest of the list of 130 cities. San Francisco is number 40.

The strength of the Euro against the US dollar has made European cities more expensive.

A little act of kindness
A couple of weeks ago I was running to catch a metro train before it left the station. The “doors closing” signal sounded while I was still a few meters from the door. The car was packed with people and I wasn’t sure if I could squeeze inside. As I stood half-in and half-out of the doorway, a hand reached out and pulled me all the way inside. I looked to see who had helped me and it was small, young woman. She smiled at me and I said “¡muchas gracias!”
This is an example of the little acts of kindness that I encounter here and one of the reasons why I enjoy living in Barcelona.

For my part, I am often asked directions en castellano. Fortunately I know the downtown area well enough to answer correctly. Remember, I don’t look español ni catalán tampoco.

This is not a surprise

Barcelona being expensive is not a surprise for me. The funny thing is that the average joe has a much lower salary. If you see the average price of things vs. the salaries it's just a scandal. There was a ranking like that and Barcelona was in the top 10 for housing, food and leisure

And well, i thought we were unpolite - until I was in England
