This being a four-day weekend or puente, Ruben and I watched seven DVDs. He had brought over about ten titles from which to choose. As I was getting tired of typical Hollywood fare with its focus on “action”, this morning I decided to watch Nudos, a Spanish film. I was in for a few surprises. First, it was filmed primarily in Barcelona and I recognized a number of locations, for example: La Boqueria, Montjuïc and Maremagnum. I get a similar “kick” when I recognize scenes from the Bay Area where I lived for forty years.
The film lived up to my expectations of having believable characters and good acting. I was really surprised when I recognized one of the actors, Joan Crosas, who I have met and talked with several times. He is currently has a major role in the musical Don Quichotte contre l’Ange Bleu at the Theatre de Paris. Even double_ohsteven met Joan when he was here last fall.
