A couple of weeks ago Ruben expressed to me that he didn’t want to exchange gifts for Valentine’s Day. But I just couldn’t resist a lttle stuffed bear I had recently seen at Vinçon when Ruben and I were waiting for lunch partners to arrive. Vinçon is a shop that sells contemporary design products for the home. (Think furniture, home-office and kitchen goods.) It has stores in Barcelona and Madrid, as well as an on-line presence.
So Friday evening Ruben arrived from Sabadell and we later went to Barcelona to have dinner at the home of Ruben’s good friend, Ángel, and four others. We finally returned back at my place on the NitBus around 01:40. I quickly hid the osito under a pillow and waited for Ruben to join me in bed. I knew that he would be shifting things around while getting comfortable. And sure enough, he promptly encountered the stuffed bear and said ¿Qué es esto? He figured out it was something stuffed, but when he turned on the light, he really had a laugh.
Valentine's Day gift for Ruben
There was a larger, black stuffed bear at Vinçon that was also "anatomically correct". But I thought that it was too big, and besides it wasn't bright red in keeping with Valentine's Day.
